Why We Do Pre-Orders (And What That Means for Digits Workwear)

I want to take a minute to explain why and say thank you.

Digits Workwear didn’t start as some massive operation with warehouses full of inventory. It started the way a lot of good workwear companies do: with firsthand experience, long days, and a very clear idea of what didn’t exist yet.

I built Digits because I wanted gloves that actually fit, actually lasted, and didn’t feel like disposable gear. I spent years fabricating, working with my hands, and burning through gloves that were either too bulky, too stiff, or worn out way too fast. So I decided to build the gloves I wanted to wear myself.

Growing Faster Than Expected

Over the last year especially, Digits has grown faster than I ever expected. More orders, more repeat customers, more word-of-mouth from people who put these gloves to work every day. That kind of growth is something I’m incredibly grateful for—but it also comes with real challenges.

Unlike big brands that overproduce and sit on piles of inventory, Digits is still a growing company. Every production run takes time: sourcing materials, building gloves the right way, and making sure quality never slips just to move faster.

Sometimes, demand simply outpaces what I have ready on the shelf.

That’s where pre-orders come in.

Pre-orders allow me to:

  • Keep quality high instead of rushing production

  • Continue improving the gloves without cutting corners

  • Grow responsibly instead of pretending I’m bigger than I am

I could choose to make more gloves than needed “just in case,” but that usually leads to compromises—on materials, fit, or craftsmanship. I’m not willing to do that.

When you place a pre-order, you’re essentially reserving your pair from the next production run. You’re helping me plan better, produce smarter, and keep Digits sustainable as it grows.

If an item is listed as a pre-order:

  • The gloves are currently in production

  • You’ll get them as soon as they’re ready

  • You’re guaranteed a pair from the next batch

  • You’re directly supporting an independent brand doing things the right way

I always do my best to be clear about timelines, and I’ll never take a pre-order lightly. I know you’re trusting me with your money—and I don’t forget that.

A pre-order means the gloves you’re purchasing are part of an upcoming production run. They aren’t sitting on the shelf yet, but they’re already being made (or about to be). By placing a pre-order, you’re reserving your pair from the next batch.


Why does Digits Workwear use pre-orders?

Digits is a growing company, and demand sometimes moves faster than inventory. Pre-orders allow me to keep quality high, avoid overproduction, and continue building gloves the right way—without cutting corners or rushing craftsmanship.


When will my pre-order ship?

Estimated ship dates are listed on the product page whenever possible. As production progresses, you’ll receive updates, and once your order ships, you’ll get tracking information right away.

I do everything I can to keep timelines accurate and transparent.


Will I be charged right away?

Yes. Pre-orders are charged at checkout, just like regular orders. This allows me to secure materials, schedule production, and guarantee your spot in the upcoming batch.


Can I cancel or change my pre-order?

If you need to make a change or have an issue, just reach out. I’m always happy to help where I can. 


Are pre-order gloves any different from in-stock gloves?

Nope. Same gloves, same materials, same attention to detail. The only difference is timing. Every pair of Digits gloves is built to the same standards, whether it’s a pre-order or shipped same day.


Why not just make more gloves in advance?

Overproducing often leads to waste, higher costs, or quality compromises. Pre-orders help Digits grow responsibly while staying focused on durability, fit, and long-term performance not shortcuts.


Is my order guaranteed?

Yes. When you place a pre-order, your gloves are allocated from the next production run.
